Department Information

Department Specific Tasks And Responsibilities

  • Provides success coaching to students in the Coca-Cola Scholars Program (CCSP) within the

department of Student Success Programs (SSP).

  • Supports the Associate Directors of SSP and staff from KSU Admissions with recruiting and onboarding new cohorts of CCSP students.
  • Provides relevant coaching data for evaluating the impact of coaching services on CCSP

caseload

  • Participates in co-curricular programming created for or inclusive of CCSP students.
  • Collaborates with campus partners (e.g. Registrar¿s office, Enrollment Services, Bursars and

Financial Aid) to assist students with course registration, scholarship retention, co-curricular

involvement, and student life immersion.

Department Specific Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Experience working with high achieving academic students
  • Knowledge of student success strategies for various student populations
  • Familiar with scholarship program frameworks (e.g., HOPE, Zell Miller, etc.)

Job Summary

Provides guidance and counsels students on an individual or group basis regarding personal, social, academic, educational, and career concerns. Connects students with appropriate campus resources to address individual needs and concerns. Assists in program-specific workshops. Serves on various program, department, college and/or university committees as required.

This position is considered limited-term staff since it utilizes contingent funding which is currently only secured through June 30, 2026. Employment thereafter will be conditional based on continued availability of funding.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Advises and supports students by connecting with appropriate campus resources to address inquiries, obstacles, challenges, and concerns
  • Guides students in defining academic, personal, and/or professional objectives, fostering life skills development, promoting involvement in co-curricular and extracurricular activities, and facilitating leadership enhancement
  • Investigates and addresses student issues promptly, ensuring resolution and providing crisis intervention when required
  • Monitors student progress toward degree attainment and graduation
  • Operates university systems to coordinate student initiatives, disseminate notifications, review relevant student data, and examine case notes
  • Participates in tracking and evaluating key metrics to gauge the effectiveness of graduation coaching efforts
  • Participates actively in assigned program, department, college, and university committees
  • Contributes to the creation of tailored student programming as necessary
  • Conducts workshops and conferences for students as deemed necessary

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in related field

Required Experience

Two (2) years of experience in a student success or support related role

Preferred Qualifications

Additional Preferred Qualifications

Proficient in utilizing commonly used software within higher education advising and coaching settings to effectively support and engage with students.

Preferred Educational Qualifications

An advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field

Preferred Experience

Experience in a higher education setting

Proposed Salary

The budgeted salary range is $22.62 to $25.30 per hour. Offers are based on relevant experience.

Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite)

Strong attention to detail and follow up skills

Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
