Current students enrolled in accredited educational institutions from high school to graduate level. Includes internships, pathways and other student programs.

Clarification from the agency

All US Citizens who have been accepted for enrollment or are enrolled and seeking a degree (diploma, certificate, etc.) in a qualifying educational institution on a full- or half-time basis; have an anticipated graduation date AFTER May 1, 2025; have at least a cumulative (overall) 2.5 grade point average; and remain in good academic standing.

Duties

  • Responsible for routine, highly repetitive, simplified contract actions in a diversity of areas such as goods and services, IT support, facilities management, human resource requirements, financial support and management services.
  • Assists in assembling and preparation of data and information for reports as required under supervisory guidance. Performs a variety of clerical and typing duties in support of the assigned section.
  • Gathers data and prepares routine and recurring workload status reports. Keeps supervisor or designee informed of problems encountered and seeks supervisor’s advice on the resolution of unusual or novel situations.
  • Assists contracting staff with updating and providing administrative maintenance support of the official electronic contract file.

After successful completion of the program requirements and based on FDIC’s needs, the selectees may be non-competitively converted to a Term or Permanent position based upon an evaluation of performance, completion of at least 640 hours of work experience acquired through the Internship Program. However, service in the FDIC Pathways Internship Program confers no right to further employment in the competitive or excepted service.

Qualifications

Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious/spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Additional qualifications information can be found here .

To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the 5 grade level or above in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience providing administrative support, gathering data and preparing workload status reports.

To qualify for the CG-7 applicants must meet one of the following requirements:

Education: Completion of 1 full year of graduate level education. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.

OR

Completion of a bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement SAA. Click here for Superior Academic Achievement qualification requirements.

OR

Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the 5 grade level. Specialized experience is defined as experience providing administrative support, gathering data and preparing workload status reports.

OR

Combination of education and experience: A combination of graduate level education and specialized experience that together meet 100% of the qualification requirements for this position (only educational credits earned beyond the bachelor's degree can be used in this calculation).

Interns will be offered a salary at the base pay for the grade in which they are qualified and selected: CG-7 - $61,586
