Studio Director

Are you an experienced and creative Studio Director with a passion for storytelling through podcasts? We are seeking a dynamic Studio Director to oversee the production of our series of podcasts. In this role, you will lead the in-studio recording process, ensuring the highest quality audio and video content. Your expertise will drive the technical execution of our shows. This is an in-person role in Austin, TX.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead Studio Operations: Complete all aspects of in-studio podcast production, including setup, recording, and post-production
• Technical Excellence: Ensure the highest quality audio and video recording using professional equipment. Troubleshoot technical issues promptly
• Creative Direction: Collaborate with hosts, guests, and producers to bring creative concepts to life. Guide the visual and auditory elements to enhance the storytelling experience
• Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of audio engineers, video editors, and production assistants. Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment
• Guest Coordination: Work closely with guests to ensure a smooth and professional recording experience. Provide technical and creative guidance as needed
• Quality Control: Conduct final reviews of all episodes to ensure they meet our quality standards. Implement feedback from stakeholders to continuously improve content
• Project Management: Maintain production schedules, manage timelines, and ensure deadlines are met. Coordinate with other departments to streamline production processes
• Equipment Management: Maintain and organize studio equipment. Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies to recommend upgrades and improvements

• Creative Visionary: Strong sense of storytelling and creative direction. Ability to visualize and execute compelling content
• Technical Proficiency: Expert knowledge of audio and video recording equipment, editing software (e.g., Adobe Audition, Premiere), and studio operations
• Leadership Skills: Proven experience in managing and leading production teams. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Detail-Oriented: Meticulous attention to detail to ensure the highest quality production
• Problem Solver: Quick thinker with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently
• Adaptable: Able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Willingness to take on new challenges and adapt to evolving needs

Skills & Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in studio production, preferably in podcasting or broadcasting
• Proficiency in audio and video editing software (Adobe Premiere preferred)
• Strong understanding of lighting, sound, and camera techniques
• Excellent organizational and project management skills
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed
• Travel for live events 4-6x per year
• Passion for podcasts, startups and storytelling

Salary Range: $75,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year

Expected schedule:

• Evenings as needed
• Monday thru Friday
• Weekends as needed

What you can expect from the interview process:

• Once candidates complete the application, our team will review the application in full
• If selected for an interview, we will email candidates asking for a link to their reel package and for them to record a video introducing themselves, 3 minutes in length, maximum
• Candidates will then interview with a member of our leadership team
• Candidates making it to the second round of interviews will interview with another member of our leadership team
• Candidates making it to the final round will interview with our producers and hosts
• Occasionally we give candidates a project up to 3 hours of your time, to determine how we can work well together, we pay candidates for this project
• The goal is to have the new Studio Director starting the first week of September
