Description

San Diego Studio Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Film & Media Studio Manager provides overall management of the San Diego Film & Media Studio, a training program for adults living with developmental or intellectual disabilities. We are seeking a professional who embodies optimism, teamwork, innovation, and accountability with the desire to help increase inclusion in the film and media industry by training our participants and supporting job placement opportunities with community partners. This position will lead a team of approximately ten individuals to provide direction, supervision of staff and participants while overseeing the creation of all content produced, in addition to meeting all regulatory requirements of our stakeholders.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Supervise overall studio/program operations including participant coordination, fiscal records, property management, staff training, technology, and compliance.
  • Manage services and apply program curriculum in all areas of production and provide guidance and support in: communication, community integration, computer training, employment, health and safety, independent living skills, mobility and travel training, recreational activities and cultural events, self - advocacy, self - care, socialization, technical support, vocational training, volunteer work and other designated skills.
  • Research and visit prospective filming locations to assess accessibility and modes of transportation available.
  • Support students in finding internship and employment opportunities.
  • Coordinate Individual Service Plans and track and record participant progress toward achievement of goals and objectives.
  • Communicate with care providers, case managers and other professionals, as needed.
  • Effectively relay issues and concerns to the Director of Film and Media or other appropriate personnel.
  • Ensure completion and maintenance of programmatic forms, files, and all other paperwork as required both internally and externally.
  • Prepare and distribute daily schedules for staff and participants.
  • Prepare and operate within annual budget, meeting or exceeding budget goals.
  • Respond to all requests, questions and issues in a timely manner.
  • Ensure program compliance with all policies, procedures and standards.
  • Ensure program management system is updated and contains accurate information and meets all required compliance.
  • Conduct intake meetings and ensure timely and complete enrollment of all new participants.
  • Recruit, review and process referrals to the program.
  • Diffuse crisis situations and provide crisis intervention, as necessary.
  • Conduct safety drills with staff and participants and maintenance of programmatic forms, files, and paperwork as required.
  • Support fundraising and outreach efforts for both the Film & Media program and the organization.

Personnel Management

  • Hire, train, direct, develop, evaluate, supervise and mentor direct reports.
  • Prepare and submit personnel forms.
  • Collect, audit and finalize time cards and mileage for staff.
  • Monitor staff performance, complete performance reviews and report potential issues.
  • Hold staff accountable to their job description, job duties and attendance.
  • Conduct monthly staff meetings and participate in other meetings as required.

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Education, Human Services or a related field required.
  • Background in leadership or management.
  • Experience working in film or media (preferred)

Experience

  • Demonstrated ability to provide staff training, supervision and planning.
  • Experience with instructional strategies and developing natural supports, including state-of-the-art techniques.
  • Three years direct hands-on experience working with individuals with a variety of disabilities.
  • Experience with instruction in critical life need areas, with emphasis on employment readiness.
  • Personnel management experience.
  • Interest and/or knowledge of film production, processes, and techniques.

Required Skills

  • Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, communication and time management skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Professional English writing ability, including usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary.
  • Ability to conduct staff meetings and trainings.
  • Proficient use of basic office equipment and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to multitask, organize information and prioritize activities.

Other Requirements

  • Ability to travel within and throughout the county in which services are provided.
  • Ability to travel in and throughout the state as needed to attend meetings, trainings, etc.
  • Background Check
  • CPR/First Aid Certification.

Compensation

Compensation is $70,040 annually, plus access to comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, and a 403(b) retirement program on your first day of hire.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position requires the employee to regularly stand, walk, sit, talk and hear. They must be capable of writing, using a computer keyboard, telephone and related office equipment. Ability to lift 25lbs.

The employee will be working in community environments, employment sites and office environments. The employee will experience normal office conditions with a well-lighted work area and minor noise from standard office equipment. Exposure to blood borne pathogens could occur during restrooming, feeding, or when administering first aid to participants. Hepatitis B vaccines are offered at no cost to each employee.
