Intern Orientation Highlights

Internship Program Requirements:

  • Educational Background: Pursuing a four-year degree with an expected graduation between December 2025 and Summer 2027. Must have overall 2.8GPA
  • Transportation: Interns must have their own transportation to and from work.
  • Geographical Flexibility: Willing to relocate to one of our ADM locations.
  • Background Check: Successful completion of a background check is required.
  • Availability: Must be available for a summer internship from mid-May to early August 2025.

Job Summary:

The ARTCo (American River Transportation Company) Transportation Intern will be trained and observed in the overall management of operations at ARTCo facilities and towing vessels. This includes, but is not limited to, general and maritime safety, people management, basic accounting, management of capital assets, repairs, troubleshooting and maintenance, regulatory compliance, and the implementation of safety programs and procedures.

Job Responsibilities & Assignments:

  • Vessel ride-along and operations overview
  • Job shadowing of office personnel
  • Implementation of ADM, OSHA, and other safety programs and procedures
  • Regulatory compliance, including USCG, AWO, DOT, OSHA, EPA, DNR, etc.
  • Basic accounting, including understanding a balance sheet, and developing computer skills
  • Introduction to ARTCo’s sustainability and environmental programs
  • Participation in company meetings and meetings with vendors/customers
