As a Summer Camp Counselor, you will play a vital role in creating a fun and enriching experience for campers while fostering a sense of community and identity. You will be responsible for supervising and engaging campers in a variety of activities, providing guidance, and ensuring their safety and well-being. Key Responsibilities
Supervise and ensure the safety of a group of campers, creating a positive and inclusive environment.
Plan, organize, and lead various camp activities, including sports, arts and crafts, nature exploration, and cultural programs.
Foster a sense of community and identity through programming, storytelling, and sharing traditions.
Provide emotional support and guidance to campers, helping them navigate challenges and build positive relationships.
Encourage campers to participate in camp traditions, rituals, and values that reflect culture and heritage.
Assist with camper health and well-being, including mealtime supervision, hygiene routines, and administering basic first aid when needed.
Work collaboratively with other camp staff to coordinate and execute camp-wide events.
Communicate regularly with camp leadership, reporting any concerns, incidents, or issues that arise.
Serve as a role model by demonstrating professionalism, respect, and a commitment to the camp's values and principles.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (some college coursework or degree preferred).
Previous camp counseling or childcare experience is a plus.
Enthusiasm for working with children and creating a positive and inclusive camp environment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
A positive attitude and a passion for creating memorable camp experiences.
