Job Description And Duties

Limited Term 12 months; may be extended up to 24 months or become permanent.

Under the general direction of the Food Administrator I, Correctional Facility (CF), the Supervising Correctional Cook (SCC), Department of Corrections (DOC) directs, trains, and supervises Cook Specialist I, CF staff and inmates preparing and serving meals and storing food and supplies at the Diet Kitchen at a correctional facility. The SCC, DOC is responsible for maintaining culinary equipment in sanitary and clean working order, and maintaining the work area clean and orderly. The SCC, DOC interprets and verifies compliance with regulations that govern the sanitation and safety of all aspects of the food service program.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Either I

One year in the California state civil service performing the duties of a Correctional Supervising Cook (Correctional Facility).

Or II

Two years of experience in a supervisory capacity over cooks and allied workers with responsibility for supervising, planning, and scheduling the preparation, cooking, and serving of three meals a day for at least 300 persons per meal.
