Supply Chain Optimization Manager

General Summary:

Primary execution leader for Global Supply Chain servicing the Dollar General store and distribution network. Responsible for implementing carrier and service provider strategies, developing standardized processes and procedures to ensure optimized network and accuracy in reporting that will improve the financial and service performance of the supply chain team.

Duties and Responsibilities: (MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE IN SUPPLY CHAIN GURU SOFTWARE)

Manages the operations of the network planning and optimization team to ensure financial and service metrics are achieved:

• Develops supply chain modeling capabilities to enable strong end-to-end decision making between the supply chain functions as well as across the enterprise to enable optimized cost-to-serve
• Responsible for creation and maintenance of 10-year Network Optimization Models to guide DC construction and capital investments
• Define business case and recommend timeline for investments. Presents findings to Executive Leadership Team for Adoption
• Build and leverage Network planning mechanisms that rapidly identify changing business trends and priorities that impact the network plan
• Guides the development and tuning of Supply Chain KPIs
• Support planning functions across inventory, transportation and distribution.

Partnering with process improvement, merchants, stores and supply chain on initiatives that deliver against Dollar General operating priorities:

• Manage special projects by developing project plans, timelines and communication protocols.
• Partner with internal and external entities to identify opportunities to reduce cost, drive speed and eliminate waste.
• Develop functional and support departmental strategies that support the company’s growth and leveraging of resources to improve margins.
• Responsible for developing critical internal and external relationships required to deliver against service and cost expectations
• Partner with Finance teams to define business cases for capital investments.
• Broad general knowledge of supply chain, network modeling, and skill set leading supply chain operations in a complex and fast-moving operating environment
• Must demonstrate strong communication and inter-personal skills to work effectively and lead both internal and external teams
• Proven business acumen and command of the financial components of supply chain operations
• Possess a deep level of curiosity to understand the improvements required within the operation and take initiative to drive change
• Strong computer and analytical skills and the ability to develop reporting and metrics to ensure goals are being achieved
• Project management experience and able to lead cross-functional project teams as well as be a strong team player
• Ability to navigate the organization through complex and diverse situations, comfortable with ambiguity

Work Experience &/or Education:

• Ideal candidate will have at least 5+ years of experience in supply chain
• Experience analyzing complex networks models
• Experience with Supply Chain optimization software desirable (Supply Chain Guru)
• Bachelor's degree required in operations research, supply chain, or equivalent.
• Experience in highly matrixed cross-functional organizations.
• Excellent analytical and quantitative skills.
• Experience in retail/CPG industry required
