Role Overview

PIC North America, a Genus Company, has an exciting opportunity. We are looking for a highly motivated Supply Chain Specialist to join our team. This position is responsible for managing production planning, inventory control and vendor selection as well as actively participating in price and contract negotiation. The position is a remote position. The Supply Chain Specialist will coordinate the supply of gilts going to PIC customers to ensure the highest quality and optimization of availability as well as create integrated processes among internal functions and outside suppliers. This role will also maintain relationships with supply chain partners, ensuring critical practices of production, selection, order fulfillment and biosecurity are in place and well implemented.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Supports in the development of the strategic objectives for the contract multiplier initiatives using the account team structure
  • Monitor product quality output to specific standards and develop action plans if improvement is needed
  • Provide support to contract partners with oversight and guidance, including but not limited to:
    • Inventory management support, focusing on maximum utilization of animals, ensuring accurate record keeping of all product inventories on a timely basis and providing necessary availability and marketing information
    • Logistics support and collaboration with dispatch, multiplication and customer locations
    • Delivery of educational/training programs relevant to PIC breeding stock multiplication
    • Special projects coordination
    • Collaboration with relevant functional areas to ensure delivery of support services
    • Design, implement and manage gilt breeding projects for farm stockings
  • Production oversight for contract multipliers with support and guidance, including:
    • Implementation and execution of the genetic program
    • Health and biosecurity program implementation, assistance and auditing
    • Gilt selection which includes phenotypic assessment and application of ear tags as needed to support multipliers in stockings and large order cycles
    • Coordinate all on farm details for export loads
    • Implement and monitor new programs as required
    • Assist multiplier partners in achieving high performance as an example of the genetic potential of PIC breeding stock
  • Leads account teams, including reporting on results and identifying and managing objectives.
  • PIC Customer support as needed or requested by PIC sales or leadership personnel
  • Lead teams in Bio Shield implementation and status monitoring. Communicate potential risks and program improvements to management.
  • Support in contract renewal of multiplication contract partners.
  • Keep all expenditures within budget for area of responsibility
  • Maintain relevant knowledge of production technologies and practices and network with key personnel in the industry

Requirements

  • University degree in relevant area or equivalent industry business management experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years farm production management preferred, including a diverse skill set of animal husbandry, production system management, supplier relationship management, and account management.
  • Ability to work in and maintain performance expectations in diverse cultural contexts and fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and solve problems in an empowered, self-directed/managed work environment
  • Work requires continual attention to detail and ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines
  • Excellent presentation skills with the ability to communicate in an organized and concise manner.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications
  • Up to 50 to 60% domestic travel and occasional international travel
  • Ability to work in outdoor and indoor livestock facilities, environments, and conditions, including but not limited to animal dander, manure, and dust. Must be able to frequently climb over, under, and around penning
