System Administrator

Job Title: Systems Administrator

Department: IT Department

Reports To: IT Manager

Job Overview: We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Systems Administrator to provide a secure and reliable IT environment for our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing, improving, and overseeing our computer systems, networks, and infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

1. Manage, monitor, and troubleshoot daily operational systems.
2. Implement, maintain, and improve network and data communication systems.
3. Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, prioritizing and analyzing issues, and restoring service.
4. Managing system backups, ensuring data recovery processes are working and creating and maintaining disaster recovery plans.
5. Install, support, and manage servers, including e-mail, print, and backup servers, and their associated operating systems and software.
6. Manage and ensure effective operation of all Microsoft Server systems related to domain architecture, DNS, DHCP, etc.
7. Oversee software and network security.
8. Schedule and perform regular server maintenance and system upgrades.
9. Maintain documentation relating to system configuration, process, and service records.
10. Provide expert support to staff and liaise with vendors and suppliers.

Requirements:

1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Systems Engineering, or related field.
2. Proven experience as a System Administrator, Network Administrator, or similar role.
3. Familiarity with various operating systems and platforms.
4. Solid understanding of LAN/WAN networks and TCP/IP protocols.
5. Excellent problem-solving and multitasking skills.
6. Experience with databases, networks (LAN, WAN), and patch management.
7. Knowledge of system security and data backup/recovery.
8. Ability to create scripts in Python, Perl, or another language is an advantage.
9. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
