System Development Engineer (Operations Support)
Remote, Anywhere, US (East Coast - DC, MD, VA Preferred, in-person presence preferred once a week for local people)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled System Development Engineer with strong SQL, Python skills and supporting ability to design, develop and maintain comprehensive monitoring systems for our IT infrastructure. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure system performance and reliability.

Key Responsibilities: - Design, implement, and maintain monitoring solutions for IT systems and applications.
- Integrate monitoring tools and develop custom scripts as needed.
- Create and manage dashboards, alerts, and reports using tools like AWS Prometheus, Nagios, Grafana, Datadog, Splunk, and AWS Grafana.
- Analyze system performance data to identify areas for optimization.
- Collaborate with teams to implement automation solutions.
- Provide training and support on monitoring tools and best practices.
- Participate in on-call rotations for monitoring issues.
- Document automation processes and tools.
Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
- Proven experience in Database Development.
- AWS experience is essential, particularly with EC2, S3, RDS, EBS Volumes, ELB, and Security Groups.
- Knowledge of other cloud platforms (Azure, GCP) is a plus.
- Strong understanding of IT infrastructure and cloud environments.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience with monitoring tools like Nagios, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, etc.
- Experience in system development with a focus on monitoring/observability.
- Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and automation tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
- Relevant IT certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect).
Work Schedule: - Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM.
- In-person preferred once a week for local candidates.
- Remote work available within the US.
