Job Description

The Systems Administrator will assist in the seamless operation of the State Attorney's computer systems. Work involves installing, supporting, and maintaining Hardware/Software systems, and responding to service desk issues, problems, and requests. The System Administrator demonstrates a mix of technical skills and interpersonal abilities, excelling in high-pressure situations, attentive listening, effective user training, and tactfulness. They may perform workstation and server patch management, network troubleshooting, AD account creation, and Office 365 administration. This individual will act as the primary point of contact for the service desk and after-hours emergency calls. This is an onsite position and reports to the Director of Information Technology or Supervisor.

General Duties And Responsibilities

Manages and maintains the State Attorney’s Computer Systems.

System & Hardware Management:

  • Oversee and ensure the optimal functioning of the State Attorney's computer systems.
  • Handle installation and troubleshooting of hardware, including Microsoft Surface Pros, laptops, desktops, printers, scanners, and related peripherals.
  • Set up and troubleshoot video teleconference equipment.

Software & Application Management:

  • Install, troubleshoot, and manage a diverse range of software, from off-the-shelf products to specialized Case Management systems and Windows 10/11.
  • Familiarity with customizing and troubleshooting SharePoint applications.
  • Implement and maintain Windows bit-locker encryption.

Cloud & Networking:

  • Possess an understanding of Azure AD/Intune user/device management.
  • Troubleshoot both LAN and wireless network connectivity issues.
  • Advanced proficiency in TCP/IP networking.

User & Access Management:

  • Engage in Active Directory management: create, troubleshoot, and manage user rights assignments, group policies, security groups, etc.
  • Administer Office 365, including its administration portal and mobile email configurations for both iPhone and Android devices.
  • Experience with Exchange/Email management and settings.

Server & Security Management:

  • Proficient in handling virtual Windows servers.
  • Oversee Microsoft Windows system patching to ensure security and functionality.
  • Perform troubleshooting of servers, logging, reviewing, and necessary follow-ups.
  • Understanding of PowerShell scripting for automation and management tasks.

Inventory & Asset Management:

  • Regularly update and maintain a detailed inventory of computer hardware and related assets.

Customer Service & Collaboration:

  • Deliver outstanding customer service when interfacing with users.
  • Work efficiently both in team settings and independently, demonstrating self-motivation in all tasks.

Specialized Knowledge:

  • Experience in a virtual server environment, particularly with vxRail, is considered a strong asset.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Address miscellaneous duties as assigned, adapting to the evolving needs of the office.

Required Minimum Qualifications

TRAINING AND EDUCATION

  • Associate Degree in Information Technology from an accredited college or university in Information Technology, or related field.
  • 3 years of related experience.

Knowledge, Abilities And/Or Skills

  • Experience as a System Administrator with or similar position.
  • Strong understanding of computer systems, networks, and related technologies.
  • In-depth knowledge of Windows-based applications, including the ability to interpret and resolve system errors.
  • Familiarity with AD, Office 365, and server patch management.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
  • Availability to address urgent system issues outside of regular office hours.
  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation, e-mail, and other computer applications.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, depending upon the division’s needs.
  • Possess and maintain reliable work habits.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license.
  • Ability to adjust readily to changes in procedures, practices, and/or assignments.
  • Ability to effectively plan, organize, prioritize, and complete work assignments/projects.
  • Ability to function either independently or within a team, depending upon the work assignment/project.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers, managers, and the public.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with peers, managers, and the public, on both individual and group levels.
  • Ability to lift and move 25-pound cartons.
  • Ability to analyze problems with detail and accuracy, keep complex records, assemble, and organize data, and prepare reports from such data.

Preferred Qualifications

TRAINING AND EDUCATION

  • Computer Based Technician Training (CompTIA A+)
  • VMware, Microsoft Systems Management, and/or Networking.
  • Three additional years of system administrator experience.
