Systems Administrator

The System Administrator will maintain and upgrade all levels of information systems, hardware, software, and peripheral equipment as well as display advanced troubleshooting and active directory skills. This individual integrates and supports high profile systems of the company such as Microsoft Exchange, System Backup up solution and other high-end systems and concepts. Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software and provides data recovery. Ancillary duties may include setting up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software and allocating mass storage space.

Summary

Founded by legendary aircraft designer Burt Rutan, Scaled Composites is a 40-year-old aerospace company continually working to push boundaries, prove out ideas, and influence the future. We are a rapid prototyping and manufacturing facility, designing, building, and testing proof-of-concept and prototype vehicles. We have flown an average of one new aircraft type per year over our 40-year history such as Proteus, GlobalFlyer, SpaceShipOne, Model 401, and Stratolaunch.

Duties And Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To

  • Configuring and troubleshooting computer systems including installation of software.
  • Advanced configuring and troubleshooting skills of servers, active directory components and other advanced components and concepts.
  • Working/assisting customers (Scaled employees) via phone, email and in person to resolve issues/concerns.
  • Utilize KACE and other IT management tools to efficiently patch and deploy software through automated processes, maintain and deploy Windows images, and manage/track assets.
  • Organizing and prioritizing work tasks to meet department/company goals.
  • Advanced working knowledge and experience of Computer Hardware, Peripherals, i.e. scanners and printers and best practices for integration and troubleshooting hardware, software and Active Directory concepts.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under frequently changing priorities.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science and 2+ years of related work experience or 6+ years of related work experience.
  • Possess or acquire the following within 6 months of hire date:
    • DOD Clearance (Secret)
    • CompTIA Security + Certification
    • Certification: Microsoft- Modern Desktop Administrator Associate
  • Experience with Teamscenter, VEEAM, FlexLM, and Atlassian products is a plus.
Essential Functions

  • Requires mobility and the ability to bend and reach
  • May infrequently require lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling materials weighing up to 30 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity and coordination are required; repetitive hand motion (e.g., to operate computer keyboard)
  • Vision at close distances and the ability to adjust focus for prolonged periods (i.e., computer screen)
  • Ability to remain sedentary or stationary for prolonged periods of time
  • Ability to write for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work in an office setting for prolonged periods of time
  • May be asked to carry up to 20 lbs. up and down a flight of stairs on a regular basis such as files, books, office
  • equipment, etc.
  • Occasional reaching overhead and lifting up to 15 pounds
  • Ability to converse and communicate information with others
  • Occasional exposure to chemical vapors and/or fumes in low non-hazardous concentration
  • Potential to climb up and down steps on a daily basis
  • Must be able to read and understand SDS
