    Purpose

    Responsible for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Moody College of Communication, KUT, and Texas Student Media Servers and Networks, including system administration of departmental servers, storage, and related services and applications.

    Responsibilities

    • Responsible for Cisco switch port patching and configuration.
    • Ensure proper configuration management and system design for optimal network performance.
    • Analyze and resolve issues with local area network performance, connectivity, and related network problems.
    • Prepares and maintains network documentation such as network, telephone, and wireless diagrams and cabling layouts.
    • Performs basic testing and troubleshooting of fiber optic and copper cabling.
    • Performs copper cabling installation and termination.
    • Assists in performing the scheduled maintenance and off-hour testing of networks.
    • Participates in migrations, upgrades, basic configurations, and rollout of new or existing network, telephone, and wireless hardware and software.
    • Configure, deploy, maintain, and support hardware using Windows and Linux operating systems on Servers.
    • Participate in Windows and Linux server patching activities.
    • Utilize system services in a heterogeneous network, including Active Directory, MECM, JAMF


    Required Qualifications

    • HS/GED
    • Three years of system administration experience.
    • Working knowledge of Windows, Linux, and macOS in a heterogeneous environment.
    • Knowledge of Cisco/Networking technologies.
    • Ability to assess security posture by identifying and mitigating vulnerabilities.


    Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree
    • Five years of relevant experience.
    • Proficiency in administering Linux and Windows servers.
    • Experience with endpoint management systems such as MECM, or JAMF.
    • Basic knowledge of broadcast networking, including VOIP, Dante, NDI, HLS, RTSP, and SMPTE 2110.
    • CompTIA Network+ or equivalent Cisco certifications.


    Salary Range

    $65,000 + depending on qualifications

    • Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.
    • Use of manual dexterity.
    • Work around electrical and mechanical hazards
    • Occasional extended and irregular-hour work hours

    Employment Eligibility:

    Retirement Plan Eligibility:

    The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
