Systems Engineer III, Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responds to end user trouble calls to resolve routine application software problems or assist with hardware issues remotely when possible. Routes calls as needs for more non-routine questions. Track tickets in an incident management system to properly identify problem and resolution for a shared knowledge base or escalate and assign as needed for higher level support.
  • Administers and manages the Space Coast Credit Union virtual and physical server environment, storage and related infrastructure. Ensures the systems are functioning at optimal levels. This includes the monitoring of the systems hardware and storage platform. Additionally, the incumbent will be responsible for managing the allocation of the physical space.
  • Specifies, procures, and implements, server and storage and cloud technologies. Evaluates factors such as vendor specifications, number of departments and employees serviced by data processing equipment, volume of transactions, time requirements, cost constraints, security requirements, access restrictions and business continuity to determine hardware configurations.
  • Analyzes information to determine, recommend, and plan layout for type of computers and peripheral equipment, or modifications to existing equipment and systems, that will provide capability for proposed projects/workload, efficient operation, effective use of allotted space and system recoverability.
  • Serves as subject matter expert for all host processes, core application and data structures, and host based jobs. Reliably provides support and guidance for all host functionality relating to other department procedures.
  • Functions as top tier escalation point for Core system problems, issues, and questions that affect all credit union functionality. Provides guidance to other system administrators as needed.
  • Utilizes broad Core system and programming knowledge to create off-host web applications that efficiently communicate and interact with the host as business needs dictate.
  • Creates and maintains daily, monthly, quarterly and year end Core system jobs and job schedules making modifications as required for business purposes and to improve operational efficiency
  • Plans ahead for necessary hardware or software upgrades to support system growth.
  • Actively participates in the development and testing activities involved with supported applications and systems and generates Core system reports and files for user departments and IT Management as requested.
  • Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade server operating systems and applications. Recognize and troubleshoot problems with server hardware and applications software. Establish and maintain system documentation, standards and procedures.


Systems Engineer III Qualifications

  • 8 to 10 years prior experience as a systems engineer or in a related position.
  • A 4 year college degree Information Systems, Computer Engineering or a related academic area or equivalent experience is required.
  • Strong familiarity with SQL queries and shell scripting are required. Direct involvement with relational databases are preferred.


Preferred Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills are required. Must demonstrate knowledge of Cisco UCS, VCE VBlock, Dell servers, EMC SAN architectures, Windows Server 2012/2016, 2019, Virtualization technologies such as VMware.
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Engineer (MCSE) and/or VMware Certified Professional (VCP) certification preferred
  • Familiarization with relationship Pricing, Deposit, and Loan account setup / maintenance.
  • Shell scripting preferred.
  • Understanding with Consumer Communications Management (CCM)
  • Extensive trouble shooting skills.
