Your Role

The Career and Leadership Development team provides opportunities for career growth at all levels of the organization through building a culture of learning, galvanizing career ownership and offering leadership development programs that prepare leaders to excel and advance in their careers.

As a Talent and Performance Management, Consultant, you will play a key role in strategizing and delivering on all aspects of Blue Shield’s annual, enterprise-wide performance management lifecycle. This includes annual goal setting, professional development goal setting, mid-year performance reviews and year-end performance review. This role will report to the Senior Manager, Talent and Performance Management.

Your Work

In this role, you will:

  • Drive execution of short- and long-range strategic plans for effective development, engagement and utilization of human resources
  • Drive execution of practices, processes and programs that enable the company’s talent strategy
  • Drive execution of the organization's training and development strategy so that the skills, capabilities and performance of employees meet the organization's current and future needs
  • Drive execution of all training and development activities in an efficient, and cost-effective manner
  • Program manage all aspects of annual performance management lifecycle, including goal setting, professional development goal setting, mid-year performance reviews and year-end performance review
  • Develop and maintain relationships with integral internal teams and stakeholders to support effective roll-out and implementation of performance processes and programs cross-functionally
  • Conduct needs analysis of current performance process and partner with stakeholders to continuously develop and enhance program, trainings, and process with the employee experience in mind
  • As needed, lead initiatives or support Blue Shield’s talent assessment and review and executive performance processes
  • Develop and execute short and long-term program strategies for performance management initiatives

Qualifications

Your Knowledge and Experience

  • Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Advanced degree in related field (e.g. Organizational Development, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Human Resources, MBA) (strongly preferred)
  • Requires a minimum of 7 years of prior relevant experience
  • Requires deep knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.
  • Requires thought leadership: Demonstrated ability to bring strategic, enterprise-wide and innovative thought to established practices, programs, and processes. Uses critical and creative thinking to come to the best outcomes
  • Requires program management: Experience managing complex, enterprise-wide programs with aggressive timelines independently; demonstrated ability to be organized and show attention to detail, establish alignment, meet deadlines, and keep everyone informed of program status in a proactive way
  • Requires consultative mindset: Ability to understand stakeholder needs, ask the right questions, conduct root cause analysis, build and maintain stakeholder buy-in, use data to develop a point of view and customize deliverables to stakeholder needs
  • Requires results orientation: Demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing priorities with the ability to drive for results. Quick learner who can come up to speed quickly and use experience and judgment to make progress independently
  • Requires Data analysis and communication: Experience working with quantitative and qualitative data; deriving the "so what" from the findings and have the numbers tell a concise, accurate, and relevant story
  • Requires public speaking and ability to effectively communicate and present program details to a diverse audience, ensuring clarity and engagement

Pay Range:

The pay range for this role is: $ 96470.00 to $ 144760.00 for California.

Please note that this range represents the pay range for this and many other positions at Blue Shield that fall into this pay grade. Blue Shield salaries are based on a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, location (California, Bay area, or outside California), and current employee salaries for similar roles.

If the role you’re applying for is deemed an “Essential Role,” the company has determined that the role can only be performed in a Blue Shield office or in the field and would require your to meet the office worker classification.

Physical Requirements:

Office Environment - roles involving part to full time schedule in Office Environment. Due to the current public health emergency in California, Blue Shield employees are almost all working remotely. Based in our physical offices and work from home office/deskwork - Activity level: Sedentary, frequency most of work day.
