Position Description

FlexGen is looking for an experienced Tax Director to build-out, lead and manage the organization's tax-related activities. This role will serve as a business advisor and partner to our internal clients with the aim to maximize engagement and achieve qualitative outcomes ensuring compliance with tax laws while optimizing tax strategies to minimize the organization's tax liabilities. The Tax Director will be expected to develop and implement effective tax planning strategies while complying with applicable laws and regulations. This involves staying up-to-date with tax law changes and identifying tax savings opportunities.

Major Job Responsibilities

  • Tax Planning and Strategy – analyze financial data and collaborate with others to develop tax strategies that mitigate FlexGen’s tax liabilities. Identify potential tax savings opportunities, such as deductions, credits, and exemptions. Execute these strategies to maximize tax benefits
  • Tax Compliance – ensures accurate preparation and filing of tax returns. This includes income, sales, payroll, and other applicable taxes
  • Ensuring accurate and timely preparation and filing of all tax returns, including income tax, sales tax, property tax, and other relevant tax forms. The Tax Director maintains proper documentation and records to support tax positions and filings
  • Risk Management – assess potential risks and exposures related to tax matters, developing mitigation strategies. Establish and enforce internal controls and processes to cut the risk of errors with tax laws
  • Audits and Investigations – manages all tax audits, inquiries, and investigations from tax authorities. Works to gather the necessary documentation and coordinates with internal teams. Provide information to address any tax-related queries or disputes
  • Financial Reporting – Collaborates with the finance team to ensure accurate and compliant reporting of tax-related details in financial statements. This includes calculating tax provisions and effective tax rates for financial reporting purposes
  • Tax Research – Conducts research and analysis of complex tax issues to ensure accurate interpretation and application of tax laws. Provides guidance to internal stakeholders on tax implications of business decisions, including review of customer contracts for taxability. Must stay updated on changes in tax laws, rules, and rulings to ensure compliance

Position Requirements

  • Proven work experience as a Tax Director with a minimum of 7 years’ experience
  • Minimum of bachelor’s in accounting; CPA and /or Masters in Taxation preferred
  • Excellent knowledge of tax accounting, tax compliance and all types of tax returns
  • Significant working knowledge of federal, state, and local laws governing financial and accounting practices
  • In-depth knowledge of corporate finance and accounting principles, laws, and best practices
  • Committed to meeting deadlines but able to pivot and prioritize as needed
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and other financial management software
  • Exceptional client service along with the ability to develop excellent client relationships
  • Strong leadership and personnel management skills
  • Analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy, with organizational and leadership skills
