Tax Manager
KGES is seeking a skilled and motivated Tax Manager for a full-time position in Wilmington, NC. The role requires a commitment to working three days in the office each week, with candidates needing to relocate within a reasonable radius of Wilmington. We are looking for U.S. citizens or permanent residents with a strong background in tax preparation and management.

Salary Range: $100k to $140k
Job Summary
The Tax Manager will play a crucial role in overseeing and executing tax preparation and compliance activities within our Wilmington office. This position involves working closely with our tax department to serve a diverse client base, including individuals, businesses, not-for-profit organizations, trusts, and various other entities. The ideal candidate will bring a mix of technical expertise and leadership skills to guide and mentor the tax team.
Primary Responsibilities
- Prepare individual, corporate, and partnership tax returns.
- Collaborate with clients to gather necessary supporting documents.
- Identify and resolve tax-related issues, offering strategic solutions.
- Provide innovative tax planning and review complex income tax returns.
- Supervise tax team members, ensuring accuracy and compliance in tax return preparation.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory tax law developments, communicate impacts to management and the tax team, and devise strategies to optimize tax outcomes.
- Prepare and review technical tax memoranda.
- Communicate with tax authorities to address and resolve notices.
- Maintain effective control procedures over all aspects of the tax process.
- Train and mentor staff on established procedures and policies.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting (Master's in Accounting/Tax preferred).
- 5 to 8 years of experience in Public Accounting.
- Proven experience in preparing individual, closely held businesses, and pass-thru (S Corp and Partnership) tax returns.
- Strong project management, analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and budgets effectively.
- Proficient in accounting, analytical, and research skills, with a commitment to professional growth.
- Ability to communicate pertinent information effectively to partners, managers, and clients.
- A team player willing to contribute to administrative tasks when necessary.
- CPA License or CPA Candidate.
- Experience with QuickBooks.
- Experience with high net-worth individuals and multi-state tax returns.
- Experience in preparing exempt organization tax returns.
