TES Staffing has partnered with a small private school in Rochester dedicated to providing exceptional special education for school-aged children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Their mission is to foster maximum independence and community integration through individualized programs and services. We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to support students in their academic and social development, ensuring their active participation in all scheduled classes and activities. Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Assist the teacher with curriculum development and lesson planning.
Collaborate with the teacher in planning and implementing programs tailored to meet the individual needs of students.
Inspire student enthusiasm for learning by providing one-on-one support.
Aid teachers in making necessary adjustments to the instructional program.
Supervise students during instruction and in the teacher's absence.
Assist students during lunchtime.
Provide support for student hygiene needs.
Be capable of pushing, pulling, or lifting up to 50 pounds.
Work collaboratively with team members to effectively support all students in program assignments.
Collect progress monitoring data on academic, social, and behavioral areas.
Perform clerical and record-keeping duties or other general housekeeping tasks as directed by the teacher/supervisor.
Handle instructional resource research activities and distribute materials to students.
Assist students with embarking and disembarking from the school bus.
Actively participate in school aquatics programs.
Attend school-wide activities with the students.
Participate in staff and in-service meetings as appropriate.
Provide efficient systems for addressing the needs of students and implementing individualized interventions, including intensive interventions as needed, using positive school-wide, classroom, and small-group behavioral supports.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Demonstrated ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Strong examples of continuous personal development and improvement.
A student-focused attitude.
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
Problem-solving skills, strong organizational skills, and the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks/projects.
Capability to lift, push, and pull 50 lbs.
Education And/or Experience
High School Diploma or GED required.
Some college education and experience working with children and young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred.
Willingness to assist with student hygiene needs.
Ability to lift, push, or pull 50 pounds.
