Life as a Technical Architect at CES:

The role of Architect will guide the teams to deliver solutions and services that enable City Electric Supply/City Electrical Factors and its customers to leverage the agility from cloud related technologies and business processes.


Working as a member of the department leadership team you will drive the evolution of infrastructure, processes and services, in particular ensuring the development and adoption of architectural guardrails cross the technology domains.


You will provide thought leadership on the creation of services and solutions based on the company vision of moving the legacy eco-system to a flexible microservices and Function As A Service (FaaS) based architecture.


Your Objectives:

  • Design and deploy scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant systems in the cloud environment.
  • Lead the migration of existing on-premises legacy applications to the cloud, utilizing appropriate patterns such as refactor, replatform, or retain.
  • Manage the ingress and egress of data to and from cloud environments.
  • Select the most suitable cloud services based on data, compute, database, or security requirements.
  • Identify and implement cloud architectural best practices.
  • Estimate cloud costs and implement cost control mechanisms.
  • Collaborate with delivery teams to architect scalable and highly available application solutions leveraging cloud services.
  • Act as a technical leader alongside stakeholders, development, and infrastructure teams.
  • Map business requirements to actionable solutions or services.
  • Conduct cost/benefit modeling aligned with business KPIs.
  • Assist in the design, development, and continuous improvement of delivered services.
  • Analyze application portfolios, identify dependencies and assess migration feasibility.
  • Generate migration roadmaps across complex legacy ecosystem structures.
  • Implement DevOps practices such as infrastructure as code and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD).


Key Skills and Experience:

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including group leadership and executive presentations.
  • Ability to drive discussions with senior stakeholders regarding trade-offs, best practices, costs, delivery, and risk mitigation.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking about business, service, and technical challenges.
  • Deep hands-on experience in designing, developing, and deploying business software at scale, or current hands-on technology infrastructure experience.
  • Proficiency with software development life cycle (SDLC) and agile/iterative methodologies.
  • Experience with IT compliance and risk management requirements (e.g., security, privacy, SOX).
  • Technical writing skills for documenting environments and procedures.
  • In-depth knowledge of at least one high-level programming language.
  • Experience deploying hybrid systems with on-premises and cloud components.
  • Capability to provide best practices for building secure and reliable applications on cloud platforms.
  • AWS Certified, preferred Solutions Architect – Professional (training provided if necessary).


Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Degree in Computer Science or related technical/analytical field, or equivalent on-the-job experience.
  • Familiarity with Enterprise Architecture Frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman).
  • Understanding of Enterprise IT management frameworks (e.g., ITIL v3 processes).
  • Knowledge of industry compliance and security standards (e.g., PCI DSS, SOC-1&2, ISO 27001).
  • Experience working in wholesale and manufacturing environments, ideally within the Electrical Products Industry.
