Environmental Assessment Services, LLC (EAS) is an established environmental services firm. Founded in 2005, and a wholly owned subsidiary of Natives of Kodiak since 2015, EAS specializes in environmental site characterization and assessment, compliance and permitting, natural and cultural resource management, and planning, among other disciplines. EAS is currently looking for a Technical Editor. This is a part-time remote position that will assist in the clarity and consistency of technical documents.

Essential Functions

  • Review, edit, and format technical documents such as data summary reports, scientific studies, and project proposals.
  • Ensure all documents adhere to company standards, as well as applicable client requirements and regulatory guidelines identified by the author.
  • Conduct quality control during review to ensure that text data matches what is reported in tables.
  • Conduct quality control reviews to identify and correct errors in grammar, punctuation, spelling, and improve the overall flow of the document.
  • Collaborate with authors to ensure accurate and effective written communication.
  • Maintain consistency in terminology, style, and branding across all documentation.
  • Manage multiple editing projects simultaneously, meeting tight deadlines without compromising quality.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of internal templates, style guides, and best practices for technical writing and editing.
  • Provide constructive feedback and guidance to authors to improve overall writing quality and document clarity.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Technical Writing, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a technical editor, preferably in the environmental industry.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe.
  • Experience with environmental data preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • The US average hourly range for this position is between $28 and $32 and will be based on factors such as experience, education, and location of the employee.

The employee is occasionally required to climb ladders or stairs; use hands to type, finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and get in and out of vehicles. The employee might occasionally lift and/or move small or large objects up to 50 pounds. The employee is required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicle, prepare and analyze data, and work on computers.
