JOB SUMMARY

Purpose Financial is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Manager, Data Governance to lead our data governance initiatives. The technical manager will lead and oversee data governance initiatives to ensure data quality and accuracy across enterprise cloud platforms. This role involves coordinating data governance policies, managing core data assets, and supporting data lifecycle management. The Technical manager will collaborate with cross functional teams, including data engineering, legal, Finance, technology, and business domains to drive value with data governance frameworks and standards.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership

  • Lead the implementation of data governance strategies, policies, and procedures.
  • Manage team of data analysts, data management, and projects
  • Collaborate with senior managers to align data governance initiatives with the company’s strategic goals in mind.


Data Governance Frameworks

  • Define and implement data governance policies, standards, and procedures to ensure the accuracy, completeness, timeliness of data across all systems and processes.
  • Establish data ownership, stewardship, and accountability frameworks to govern the lifecycle of data from acquisition to disposal.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, Legal, Compliance, and business stakeholders to identify data governance requirements and develop solutions to address them.


Data Management

  • Manage and enforce data classification, data access, data sharing, and reference data.
  • Implement data classification, tagging, and access control mechanisms to protect sensitive and confidential information and ensure compliance with relevant data privacy regulations.
  • Ensure proper documentation of data assets, metadata, and data lineage with Atlan.
  • Design and implement data quality management processes, data profiling, and data cleansing strategies to improve data accuracy and reliability.


Technology & Tools

  • Implement data classification, tagging, and access control mechanisms to protect sensitive and confidential information and ensure compliance with relevant data privacy regulations.
  • Hands on proficiency in SQL and Python
  • Communicate the value of data gov across the organization and be a voice for our data driven culture.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to raise awareness and build data governance capabilities.


Accountability: Understand, adhere to, and enforce all corporate policies.


Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Data Management, or related disciplines. Master’s degree preferred.


Requirements:

  • Proven track record of at least 5 years of experience in data governance, data management, or data engineering roles.
  • Minimum of 3 years-experience in a leadership or management position
  • Hands on expertise in data governance tools, frameworks, metadata management, and data lineage.
  • Strong understanding of data privacy regulations, compliance requirements and industry standards.
  • Proficient in SQL, Python, data modeling, and metadata management.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong understanding of data quality, privacy, and compliance principles.


Knowledge Required: Excellent written and verbal communications skills; adaptability and flexibility to changing environment; and comfortable working in a dynamic, high volume, fast-paced environment. Ability to understand and ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and laws governing our industry/business and products.


Physical Requirements: Sitting for long periods of time; standing occasionally; walking; bending; squatting; kneeling; pushing/pulling; reaching; twisting; frequent lifting of less than 10 lbs., occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs.; driving and having access during the workday to an insured and reliable transportation; typing; data entry; grasping; transferring items between hands and/or to another person or receptacle; use of office equipment to include computers; ability to travel to, be physically present at, and complete the physical requirements of the position at any assigned location.
