Metric Search is working with a fast growing engineering consultancy with over 40 years of experience completing complex engineering projects and are currently looking to add an experienced P&C Technical Manager to their team.


This company were recently successful in being awarded an MSA for a $1BN portfolio of work with a Major Investor Owned Utility with a variety of scope across Transmission, Distribution & Substation.


About the Role:

As the Protection and Control Technical Manager, you'll spearhead the Protection and Control Engineering business. Your primary mission? Craft strategies aligning the business vision with market dynamics and growth. From nurturing core capabilities to ensuring stellar project delivery, you'll be pivotal. Dive deep into industry trends, champion innovation, and lead the charge in program and project identification to keep ahead of the curve.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Craft and execute strategic plans elevating Transmission Practice objectives, client satisfaction, and team engagement.
  • Enhance Protection and Control portfolio management, collaborating closely with stakeholders to refine the project management framework.
  • Drive adherence and evolution of the Transmission Practice Quality Management System (QMS), focusing on continuous improvement.
  • Oversee financial reporting, ensuring robust project budgeting, schedule adherence, and efficient invoicing processes.
  • Champion the integration and enhancement of cutting-edge business technologies vital for the Transmission Practice efficiency.
  • Foster robust internal relationships within the companies services and collaborate with the Transmission Practice Leadership for seamless workflow and risk assessment.
  • Spearhead talent management initiatives, from recruitment to performance evaluations, fostering growth and excellence.


Management Essentials:

  • Uphold managerial duties in line with organizational policies, encompassing hiring, training, performance reviews, and conflict resolution.


Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering is essential; related degrees considered, with an advanced degree being a bonus.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) certification with expertise in Protection and Control Engineering using ACAD-E.
  • Robust experience in Protection and Control Applications within the electric utility sector.
  • A track record of leading diverse teams, especially in Protection and Control Engineering.
  • 10+ years in electric utility engineering, with a minimum of 5 years focused on Protection and Control Engineering.
  • Demonstrated leadership prowess, coupled with exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Flexibility to travel as required, up to 50%.
  • Success Attributes: Client-centric approach, a balanced 'Seller/Doer' mindset, adeptness in the roles of Expert, Manager, and Leader, and a proactive, self-driven attitude.
