Job Description: The main function of the technical writer is to write technical materials, such as equipment manuals, appendices, or operating and maintenance instructions. The technical writer is responsible for organizing, editing, and maintaining technical records and files. Additionally, the role involves translating news articles and reports between Korean and English, and summarizing American news media articles in a few lines of Korean or English.
Responsibilities
Organize material and complete writing assignments according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology.
Maintain records and files of work and revisions.
Confer with clients to establish technical specifications and determine subject material to be developed for publication.
Search for American news media articles on assigned specific topics on a daily and weekly basis, and summarize articles in a few lines of Korean or English.
Translate news articles and reports from Korean to English and vice versa.
Fluency in both English and Korean (must be able to write professionally in both languages to translate).
Knowledge of media production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods.
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and good Korean.
Problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
Basic knowledge of the structure and content of the English and Korean languages, including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
Basic knowledge of computer software such as Adobe, JavaScript, and Oracle.
Interpersonal skills and ability to manage one's time effectively.
