Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Documentation Creation: Produce clear and concise documentation detailing our organization's adherence to NIST 800-53 standards. This includes control descriptions, implementation guidance, and evidence of compliance.
- Policy and Procedure Development: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and refine policies and procedures necessary to achieve and maintain compliance with NIST 800-53 requirements.
- Gap Analysis and Remediation: Conduct thorough gap analysis assessments to identify areas where our organization may fall short of NIST 800-53 compliance.
- Work with relevant stakeholders to develop and implement remediation plans.
- Audit Support: Assist in preparing for and participating in audits and assessments related to NIST 800-53 compliance. Ensure that all required documentation and evidence are readily available and up to date.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of updates and revisions to the NIST 800-53 framework and other relevant regulations and standards. Continuously evaluate and enhance our compliance efforts to adapt to changing requirements and emerging threats.
- Communication and Collaboration: Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, including IT teams, security professionals, and management, to foster a culture of collaboration and accountability around NIST 800-53 compliance.
- Additional Projects: Support other compliance initiatives (e.g., SOC2 Type 2) and technical writing needs as they may arise.
- Minimum of 5 years of related technical writing experience - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Technical Writer, preferably in a compliance-focused role.
- In-depth knowledge of NIST Special Publication 800-53 and its associated controls and requirements.
- Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to translate technical information into clear and accessible documentation.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity principles and best practices. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)) are a plus.
- US citizenship is required.
