Telephony Engineer

We are seeking a skilled Telephony Engineer with experience in integrating Session Border Controllers (SBC) and Azure Communication Services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in VoIP technologies, SIP protocols, and cloud-based communication platforms. This role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining telephony solutions that leverage Cloud Telephony Services to deliver high-quality voice and video communications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and Architecture:
  • Develop and implement telephony solutions integrating SBCs with Azure Communication Services.
  • Design call flows and network architecture to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Implementation:
  • Configure and deploy SBCs to manage and secure IP communications.
  • Integrate Azure Communication Services with existing telephony infrastructure.
  • Ensure interoperability between different communication systems and protocols.
  • Security and Compliance:
  • Implement security measures to protect telephony systems from unauthorized access and attacks.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for communications, including lawful intercept and emergency services.
  • Conduct regular security assessments and audits.
  • Quality of Service (QoS) Management:
  • Monitor and manage network traffic to ensure high-quality voice and video communications.
  • Implement QoS policies to prioritize critical communication flows.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve quality issues affecting communications.
  • Support and Maintenance:
  • Provide ongoing support for telephony systems, including troubleshooting and resolving issues.
  • Perform regular maintenance and updates to ensure system reliability and security.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for telephony systems and integrations.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
  • Work closely with IT, networking, and development teams to ensure seamless integration and operation.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide updates and gather feedback.
  • Provide training and support to users and other team members.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Proven experience in telephony engineering, particularly with SBCs and VoIP technologies.
  • Experience with Azure Communication Services and cloud-based communication platforms.
  • Strong understanding of SIP protocols and related technologies.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in configuring and managing SBCs (e.g., AudioCodes, Cisco, Ribbon).
  • Familiarity with network protocols, firewall configurations, and NAT traversal techniques.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve complex issues.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Microsoft 365 Certified: Teams Voice Engineer Expert.

Experience with Unified Communications: Knowledge of integrating with other unified communications platforms like Microsoft Teams or Zoom.

Programming Skills: Experience with scripting and automation (e.g., Python, bash, PowerShell) for telephony and network tasks.
