TEMPORARY ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR, COMMERCIAL LEARNING & DEVELOPMENT

Summary

The Associate Director of Commercial Learning & Development (temporary position, 6 month contract) will be responsible for project and LMS management and executing training content, which will be designed to continually enhance the effectiveness and performance of Ionis’ Commercial field and field leadership teams. The ideal candidate will be a high-energy, detail-oriented, and self-motivated individual with a strong focus on client service, ability to adapt quickly to changing business needs, and can handle multiple priorities. This temporary role will be based remotely with occasional work expected from our Boston, MA or Carlsbad, CA offices.

Responsibilities

  • Execute the Commercial L&D strategy and vision to inform the direction of the learning expectations across Ionis’ Commercial positions.
  • Negotiate and execute vendor contracts and HCP agreements.
  • Coordinate travel and logistics for in-person events.
  • Manage and coordinate the Commercial L&D calendar and events.
  • Assist with the building and scaling of world class onboarding, new hire, and advanced training programs for cross-functional Commercial teams.
  • Work cross-functionally to create strategic partnerships with Sales and Marketing teams, Patient Services, Access, Medical, and other internal key stakeholders to ensure training programs and resources are in alignment with brand/company strategies and support achievement of objectives.
  • Develop and manage the execution of core and role-specific training curriculums to support the ongoing performance improvement for all Commercial employees.
  • Lead and ensure product, therapeutic, and marketplace content is current, compliant, and relevant for multiple user groups, including Rare Disease Account Specialists, Patient Education Managers, Field Leaders, Access, and other Commercial teams.
  • Effectively manage training processes and vendor projects.
  • Uphold behaviors that are in alignment with Ionis’ Culture and Core Principles

Requirements

  • 3+ years cross-functional pharmaceutical experience, preferably in Sales, Sales Training, or other Commercial roles
  • Proficient in Office 365 applications
  • Understanding of pharmaceutical sales and customer engagement models
  • Knowledge of Learning Management Systems, e-Learning applications, and internet-based support tools
  • Experience successfully working cross-functionally
  • Ability to communicate to all levels of the organization
  • Exceptional communication, persuasion, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong project management skills with proven track record of execution and results
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate teams, foster collaborative environment, negotiate, and influence in a matrix environment while exercising tact and diplomacy in stressful situations
  • Launch, specialty, and rare disease experience
  • 20%-30% travel
