Job Description

JOB PURPOSE:

This position is responsible for the provision of chemical dependency treatment to men and women in the Siena Francis Miracles Treatment Program. This position serves under the direction of the Program Manager and includes conducting client assessment, individual and group therapy sessions, lectures, clinical reviews, treatment planning and treatment team staffing.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Knowledge of addiction and provides individual and group counseling to men and women in the Miracles Treatment Program.
  • Utilize a strength based and trauma-informed approach to work collaboratively with clients and other treatment team members to help support clients in their treatment and recovery.
  • Provide family counseling, as appropriate.
  • Monitor client’s access and involvement with treatment and other programming to help address barriers to treatment and recovery.
  • Complete clinical documentation and maintain quality, up-to-date clinical records; enter necessary information into Homeless Management Information System (HMIS).
  • Conduct chemical dependency assessments and evaluations. Develop treatment plans according to client’s goals.
  • Facilitate lectures and lead classroom discussions.
  • Conduct conflict resolution with clients and other treatment team members.
  • Collect information from collateral resources to aid in determining need for treatment and services.
  • Assists in the implementation of policy and procedures of the Miracles Treatment Program.
  • Assist in the collection of usable information in order to apply and sustain grant funding.
  • Remain in compliance with internal and external policies, procedures, regulations and city, state and federal standards.
  • Participate in all assigned meetings, staff development and training as required.
  • Thorough knowledge of addiction and homelessness issues and concerns.
  • Maintain working knowledge of other of local agencies, programs and resources and link clients as appropriate to those resources.
  • Knowledge of recovery support systems and 12-Step programs preferred.
  • Ability to support the agency’s mission and philosophy and demonstrate sensitivity to cultural and economic diversity and workplace harmony.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as a team member in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Communicates collaboratively with government and non-governmental organizations, state and federal judicial systems, state and community corrections, businesses, and other local agencies to provide information and services on behalf of the Miracles Treatment Program.
  • Work cooperatively with the legal system to ensure coordination of services including court appearances when appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • A Master’s degree in counseling, social work or a related field is required.
  • Nebraska license as a Licensed Mental Health Practitioner (LMHP) and Nebraska Licensed Alcohol and Drug Therapist (LADC) is preferred. Provisional licensure as a Nebraska Provisional Licensed Alcohol and Drug Therapist (PLADC and Nebraska Provisional or Licensed Mental Health Practitioner (PLMHP) will be considered with experience in the field of recovery.
  • Experience working in the areas of substance abuse, mental health, and co-occurring disorders.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic working knowledge of Windows (MSWord, Excel and publisher). Good working knowledge of e-mail and Internet.
  • Positive attitude; energetic; dedicated to helping the homeless and/or chemically dependent.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The work environment is an office setting with varying degrees of temperatures and noise levels. This position may require extended work hours, frequent time constraints, and shifting priorities, that may contribute to physical and mental stress.
