What will you be doing?

Barclays Capital Inc. seeks Trader in New York, NY (multiple positions available):


  • Executing trade ideas and hedges. Receiving sales order tickets and inspecting forms to determine accuracy of information.
  • Trade reporting and analyzing the drivers of P&L, including daily trading activity, hedging, and risk management across all major exchanges, covering every sector of the U.S. economy.
  • Researching and interpreting movements in the economy on a micro and macro level, and analyzing how trends may affect existing and potential customers.
  • Researching price fluctuations in order to provide accurate assessments, analyses, and trade ideas while determining trade risk;
  • Assisting with managing risk of the team’s trading books, contributing to firm infrastructure strategy.
  • Informing other traders, managers, or customers of market conditions, including volume, price, competition, or dynamics.
  • Performing various analyses on fundamental and technical data to track and analyze factors that affect price movement.
  • Participating in pricing products at optimal levels for clients.
  • May telecommute.


Salary / Rate Minimum/yr: $157,000 per year

Salary / Rate Maximum/yr: $175,000 per year

The minimum and maximum salary/rate information above include only base salary or base hourly rate. It does not include any other type of compensation or benefits that may be available.

This position is eligible for incentives pursuant to Barclays Employee Referral Program.

Purpose of the role

To participate in the day-to-day activities of the markets division providing insights and expertise that help senior colleagues make informed decisions, develop new products and services, and identify new market opportunities.

Accountabilities


  • Execution of small research projects, research to support strategic decision making, preparation of presentations and reports to communicate research findings, collaboration with senior management to implement research findings for the global markets division.
  • Collaboration with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives.
  • Participation in training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Identification of opportunities, development of business cases, management of the deployment and launch of new products and services for the global markets division.
  • Management of client relationships and provision of customer service support to clients and customers, under steadily decreasing supervision, responding to questions about products and services, processing of transactions.
  • Management of the development and implementation of financial models and strategies that support in decision making in the global markets division.
  • Training and mentoring of junior colleagues.

  • Resolve problems by identifying and selecting solutions through the application of acquired technical experience and will be guided by precedents.
  • Guide and persuade team members and communicate complex / sensitive information.
  • Act as contact point for stakeholders outside of the immediate function, while building a network of contacts outside team and external to the organisation.
