The Senior Traffic Engineer will play a key role in the planning, design, and implementation of transportation and traffic engineering projects in Minnesota. This position involves a range of responsibilities, including traffic signal design, traffic impact analysis, roadway design, and project management. The successful candidate will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, government agencies, and stakeholders to ensure the efficient and safe flow of traffic within the state.
Responsibilities:
Traffic Engineering Design:
Lead and contribute to the design of traffic signals, intersections, and roadways.
Conduct traffic signal timing and optimization studies.
Develop and review plans and specifications for traffic engineering projects.
Traffic Impact Analysis:
Conduct and oversee traffic impact studies for new developments.
Evaluate the impact of proposed projects on the existing transportation network.
Provide recommendations for mitigating traffic impacts.
Project Management:
Manage traffic engineering projects from inception to completion.
Coordinate with internal teams, external consultants, and agencies to ensure project success.
Monitor project budgets, timelines, and resources.
Traffic Safety and Compliance:
Analyze and address traffic safety concerns.
Ensure projects comply with relevant local, state, and federal regulations.
Stay abreast of industry standards and best practices.
Data Analysis:
Utilize traffic data to identify trends and propose improvements.
Conduct traffic modeling and simulation studies.
Analyze traffic flow patterns and make recommendations for optimization.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
Work collaboratively with government agencies, contractors, and community stakeholders.
Attend public meetings and hearings to present project information and address concerns.
Professional Development:
Stay informed about advancements in traffic engineering technologies and methodologies.
Participate in relevant professional organizations and attend conferences.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of Minnesota.
8+ years of experience in traffic engineering.
Strong proficiency in traffic engineering software and tools.
Excellent project management and communication skills.
