As the next transportation engineer licensed specialist 13 for BFS, you'll play a pivotal role in the statewide coordination of the transportation operations center (TOC). Your expertise in project management, coordination and attention to detail will directly contribute to enhancing Michigan’s Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) operations and the team’s success. Your problem-solving skills and collaborative mindset will be invaluable in troubleshooting issues and ensuring optimal performance. As the next transportation engineer licensed specialist 13, you would be responsible for:
- Coordinating, monitoring and managing the Statewide Transportation Operations Center (STOC) control room services contact, and coordinating the day-to-day operations in the STOC, as directed by the systems operation manager. The STOC operations focus on incident management, traveler information and planned events.
- Working with the Department of Technology Budget and Management (DTMB) and its ITS Program office to develop and oversee the maintenance and enhancements for the software and associated technology support for a statewide system that controls ITS devices in the field for use by the TOCs.
- Developing statewide operation standards for communications, procedures, processes, and protocols.
- Representing the department on national committees and pooled fund studies, while coordinating with peers in other states.

Required Education And Experience
Education
Possession of a bachelor of science degree in engineering.
Experience
Four years of professional experience equivalent to a Transportation Engineer, including two years equivalent to a Transportation Engineer P11 or one year equivalent to a Transportation Engineer 12 or Transportation Engineer Licensed 12.
Additional Requirements And Information
Possession of a registered professional engineering license as required by the State of Michigan.
Possession of a valid driver's license.
