Job Description:


New Energy Economics is seeking a talented Utility Economics Analyst to join our team. The Utility Economics Analyst will play a crucial role in conducting research, analyzing data, and providing actionable insights for regulatory proceedings, publications and media to inform consumers and stakeholders. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of economics and energy policy in regulated energy markets in the Midwest and Southeast.


Responsibilities:


·      Conduct economic analysis of utility operations, regulatory frameworks, and market dynamics to assess their impact on energy cost and reliability.

·      Evaluate the costs and benefits of energy generation, transmission, and distribution technologies, including renewable energy, energy storage, and grid modernization.

·      Analyze utility tariffs, rate structures, and pricing mechanisms to optimize revenue streams and promote efficient resource allocation.

·      Assess the economic externalities associated with energy production and consumption, and strategies to mitigate negative impacts.

·      Collaborate with cross-organizational teams to develop models, forecasts, and scenarios to inform decision-making and policy development.

·      Prepare reports, presentations, and other deliverables to communicate research findings, recommendations, and insights in regulatory proceedings, to stakeholders, and the public.

·      Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory developments, and emerging technologies to anticipate future challenges and opportunities in the energy sector.

·      Support organizational development activities, including proposal writing, partnership outreach, and project management, to help expand revenue streams and strategic collaborations.


Qualifications:


·      Bachelor's degree in economics, energy policy, environmental studies, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.

·      2+ years of experience in utility economics, energy consulting, regulatory affairs, or a related field; experience with quantitative analysis and modeling required.

·      Proficiency in statistical analysis, econometric tools, and data visualization techniques.

·      Strong analytical skills and ability to synthesize complex information into clear, concise, and actionable insights.

·      Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to diverse audiences.

·      Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote, deadline-driven environment.

·      Commitment to New Energy Economics' mission and goals.


Preferred Qualifications:


·      Experience in the energy utilities industry.

·      Advanced Excel features.

·      Experience with data analysis methods and techniques.


Salary:

·      Compensation of $85,000 - $120,000. The actual amount may be higher or lower based on location, experience, knowledge, and abilities.
