Position: Driver
Reports to: Sr. VP of Operations
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (Part-time)
Function:
The Driver is responsible for providing courteous, safe, and timely transportation to program participants. The Driver is responsible for ensuring the vehicles are clean and properly maintained.
Qualifications:
The position requires the ability to drive a multi-passenger van safely, including the ability to read and interpret road signs, monitor traffic and weather conditions, and interpret maps and route directions. Two years of transportation experience is preferred. Must possess a valid Alabama driver’s license and continually meet the requirements for VOASE’s vehicle insurance company.

Principal Activities:
- Provide transportation to program participants in a safe, timely and courteous manner.
- Conduct ongoing routine maintenance of vehicles, ensuring operation in a safe and efficient condition at all times. Monitor vehicle condition and report any malfunction.
- Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
- Conduct safety briefing to new passengers prior to trip departure.
- Report any accidents, injuries or other problems with vehicle or program participants to the Manager immediately.
- Conduct safety/fire drills as directed by the Manager.
- Provide support to the Manager as needed, including coordination of transportation services, delivery of meals to seniors in the community, completion of assigned paperwork and expense reports timely and correctly, and documenting/entering mileage.
- Successful and timely completion of all assigned employee training including defensive driving.
- Order supplies quarterly.
- Program participants are provided safe and efficient transportation.
- A positive public image for Volunteers of America SE will be maintained.
