The Vice President of Data Engineering and AI will be responsible for the overall leadership and management of the Data engineering teams, with a specific focus on AI initiatives. This role requires a deep technical background, strong leadership skills, and the ability to drive innovation and excellence in a fast-paced environment. The VP of Data Engineering and AI will collaborate closely with other executives to align engineering efforts with the company's strategic goals. This leader will play a crucial role in advancing the company's AI-driven transformation, aimed at unlocking new revenue opportunities and reducing costs.

What You'll Do

Leadership and Management:

  • Provide visionary leadership to the data engineering and AI teams.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Mentor and develop engineering leaders and team members, ensuring the growth of technical and leadership capabilities.

Strategic Planning

  • Develop and execute data engineering, and AI strategies aligned with the company's vision and business objectives.
  • Identify and prioritize technology trends and opportunities that will drive the company’s growth and competitive edge.
  • Collaborate with the executive team to define and achieve key engineering and business metrics and objectives.

Technical Oversight

  • Oversee the design, development, and implementation of scalable and high-performance data and AI solutions.
  • Ensure best practices in software engineering, data management, and AI/ML model development and deployment.
  • Drive architectural decisions and technology stack choices to meet current and future business needs.

Collaboration And Communication

  • Serve as a key technical advisor to the Executive team and other senior leaders.
  • Communicate technical concepts and strategies to non-technical stakeholders effectively.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external partners to drive collaborative innovation.

To Be Successful In This Role, You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; Master’s or Ph.D. preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in engineering leadership roles, with a focus on data and AI technologies
  • Proven track record of successfully leading large-scale data and AI projects from concept to deployment
  • Deep understanding of software engineering principles, data architectures, and AI/ML methodologies
  • Experience building ETL pipelines, low latency query engines, Datalake/ lakehouse architectures and infrastructure for serving ML models
  • Experience with LLMs, RAG and infrastructure to support that such as vector databases
  • Experience with AWS and Google Cloud
  • Proficiency in big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Kafka)
  • Expertise in AI/ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn
  • Strong knowledge of data privacy regulations and best practices in data security
  • Exceptional leadership and team management abilities, with experience in building and leading high-performing teams
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to drive change and inspire innovation

Pay Transparency Statement

This is a hybrid position based out of our San Francisco office, with the expectation of being in office at least two weekdays per week.

The actual pay rate offered within the range will depend on factors including geographic location, qualifications, experience, and internal equity. In addition to the salary, you will be eligible for stock options and benefits like health insurance, 401k, and paid time off.
