Who You Are…

As Vice President of EHS, you can expect to play a pivotal role in leading the Company’s Hearts & Minds strategy. You will be responsible for integrating environmental health and safety services with Hearts & Minds initiatives into our business practices. By doing so, this role helps to foster a culture of safety that goes beyond compliance.


This Position…

Some examples of the work you might do includes:

  • Drives and leads the strategic development, integration and management of enterprise wide Environmental Health & Safety programs, processes, and initiatives in support of the Company’s vision and growth objectives.
  • Champions the Hearts & Minds safety culture across the organization.
  • Develops comprehensive short, and long-term EH&S strategy via collaboration with the Senior Leadership Team, various corporate departments, and local branch business units.
  • Develops and maintains strategies to prevent incidents, injuries, illnesses and environmental incidents by implementing systematic approaches, safety protocols, and robust training programs across employee populations.
  • Anticipates future industry trends and proactively develops and implements strategic plans for continued enhancement of our Hearts and Minds culture, safety activities, and capabilities that will scale as the Company grows and evolves.
  • Creates an environment of continuous improvement by incorporating lessons learned, detailed root cause analyses, and best practices proactively.
  • Designs effective control systems to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including the development and implementation of safety and environmental policies, risk assessments, safety & environmental stewardship .
  • Develops and manages company specific benchmarks, KPI’s and dashboards to manage successful progress towards strategic goals.
  • Recommends, implements, and manages effective organizational change through the creation and deployment of specific change management plans, effectively managing resistance.
  • Creates and utilizes consistent standards and core processes throughout the enterprise down to the local level through an effective regional management structure.
  • Establishes and maintains key relationships and influence within all levels of the organization to integrate EHS objectives into operational focuses, set strategies for EHS improvement, and gain support for needed deployment resources.
  • Fosters collaboration across regions promoting the exchange of information, consistency, and a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Maintains an employee and customer centric focus on EH&S in key areas specific to Limbach such as including operational execution, elevated risk management items, employee health & wellness, acquisition due diligence, and acquisition integration.
  • Maintains an industry presence & fosters peer to peer relationships with National customers and other significant company accounts.
  • Active participant in external industry events and customer engagements.
  • Owns the overall corporate EH&S departmental budget, staffing, financial and regulatory reporting.
  • Responsible for EH&S employee & leadership development, talent acquisition, and overall departmental succession planning.
  • Designs emergency preparedness strategies based on top risks within the business.


What You Need…

  • Ten+ years of experience (inclusive of at least 3 years at the regional level) designing, implementing and managing Environmental, Occupational and Industrial Health, and Safety programs.
  • Prior work experience in a highly safety sensitive environment, such as construction.
  • Demonstrated leadership within a decentralized, matrix environment.
  • Strong record of building a proactive, integrated safety culture.
  • Desire and ability to connect at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated experience creating a strong EHS compliance framework.
  • Experience in identifying, defining, and actualizing organization-wide objectives in a practical, measurable way with defined results required.
  • Demonstrated experience coaching leaders and the ability to influence behavior and culture across the organization.
  • Capacity to adapt to changing priorities, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and excel in a complex environment.
  • Proactively stays abreast of changing industry trends and best practices, translating this intel into business strategy.
  • Ability to travel up to 70% of the time.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree is Occupational Health and Safety, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Recognized certificates (e.g. NEBOSH)
  • Evidenced training/expertise in the broader spectrum of EHS&S topics.
  • Expert level knowledge of ISO 14001 (Environmental management), ISO 50001 (Energy management), ISO 45001 (Occupational health and safety management), ISO 9001 (Quality management), management system and implementing/managing management system elements.

Work Environment:

  • This position operates in a professional office environment, and routinely utilizes standard office equipment, such as computers, phones, copiers, filing cabinets, and printers.


Physical Demands:

  • In performing the duties of this job, the incumbent is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, perform repetitive motion, and possess an appropriate degree of both visual acuity and manual dexterity.
  • You may occasionally be required to climb, crouch, kneel, stoop, feel, and grasp.
  • This is considered a medium work position, which means possible exertion of up to fifty (50) pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to thirty (30) pounds of force frequently, and/or up to ten (10) pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
