Professional Search Group (PSG) is seeking an experienced VP of Finance and Accounting to join a Real Estate Investment company located in Orange County. The The VP of Finance and Accounting will be responsible for financial reporting and ensures timely, accurate and complete reporting internally and externally. Responsible for analyzing and implementing reporting rules and regulations; implementing financial reporting controls and process improvements, supporting regulatory change initiatives; modification of reporting processes; and remediation of any issues identified. Performs all duties in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures.


Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the timely completion and delivery of the fund and related investment entity financial statements, including footnotes and supporting schedules as needed for investor reporting
  • Establish and implement metrics, and develop work plans for major programs and projects that meet organizational goals and reporting timelines, including developing and maintaining the financial reporting calendar
  • Prepare quarterly and annual debt covenant compliance
  • Supervise the treasury function across accounting groups (fund and corporate) and maintain and develop key banking relationships among existing lenders and depository institutions
  • Coordinate and lead team to meet all audit deadlines for real estate funds and property audits
  • Manage liquidity as well as investment and fund-level budgeting
  • Lead a team of fund and project accounting professionals
  • Building and maintaining relationships with JV partners and ensuring the reporting needs of JV partners’ requests are met timely
  • Technical and knowledgeable with US GAAP and implementing new accounting standards for funds and property-level financial statements

  • Communicates clearly, concisely, accurately, and timely, both verbally and in writing

  • Self-directed with excellent prioritization, organizational and project management skills; embraces a strong commitment to follow-up, ability to multi-task, and a sense of urgency


Education and/or Experience

  • BS/BA degree in accounting and related professional development work required
  • CPA preferred
  • Minimum of 8 years of controllership and financial reporting experience
  • Mix of Public and Private accounting experience is preferred
  • Experience with Yardi accounting software is a plus


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • CPA preferred


Relationships

  • This position will report to the Chief Financial Officer
  • Provides active leadership to the Accounting Team
  • Maintains relationships with peers and other departments within the company


Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This position supervises the Fund Accounting Team (including the Controller, Assistant Controller as well as Senior and Project Accountants)


Language Skills

  • Able to analyze, organize, summarize, and articulate complex legal and financial information
  • Good command of the English language and be able to proofread work
  • Able to read and interpret agreements, then implement the relevant provisions of these agreements


Mathematical Skills

Ability to comprehend and apply principles of advanced calculus, modern algebra, and advanced statistical theory. Ability to apply financial and statistical variables into complex cash flow models to analyze real estate investments and apply stress testing to cash flow models.


Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.


Physical Demands

BODY POSITIONS: Includes sitting, standing, walking and use of hands and arms to operate office equipment. Must be able to see (20/20 vision with glasses) and hear (with mechanical assistance if necessary) sufficient to understand and comprehend individual one-on-one conversations.

BODY SENSES: Must have command of the senses of sight, hearing, and touch. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. These vision requirements in each area must be sufficient to shift focus from computer screens to close forms.

  • Ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus


Work Environment

  • This position will be working primarily indoors in a climate-controlled office environment.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Vice President works full-time, and they often must work additional hours on evenings and weekends.
