Overview

The Vice President of Manufacturing is responsible for overseeing all aspects of manufacturing operations for our medical device client, with a particular focus on plastics and injection molding processes. This role will drive operational excellence, ensuring the efficient and effective production of high-quality medical devices that meet regulatory requirements and customer needs.


Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive manufacturing strategy that aligns with the company's overall business objectives, with a focus on plastics and injection molding operations.
  • Operational Excellence: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize plastics and injection molding processes, reduce costs, and enhance productivity.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure compliance with all relevant quality standards, including ISO 13485 and FDA regulations, particularly those related to plastics and injection molding.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Oversee regulatory submissions and approvals, and maintain compliance with applicable government regulations, including those specific to plastics and injection molding.
  • Supply Chain Management: Manage the end-to-end supply chain, including procurement of plastics materials, logistics, and inventory control.
  • Team Management: Lead and develop a high-performing manufacturing team, providing mentorship and guidance, especially in areas related to plastics and injection molding.
  • Capacity Planning: Ensure adequate manufacturing capacity to meet current and future demand, considering the specific requirements of plastics and injection molding processes.
  • Cost Management: Develop and implement cost-effective manufacturing practices to optimize profitability, taking into account the unique cost considerations of plastics and injection molding.
  • Technology Integration: Evaluate and implement new technologies to improve manufacturing efficiency and quality, with a focus on plastics and injection molding processes.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing, or a related field.
  • Advanced degree (MBA or MS) preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in manufacturing leadership roles within the medical device industry, with a strong emphasis on plastics and injection molding.
  • Proven track record of driving operational excellence and achieving manufacturing goals, particularly in the context of plastics and injection molding.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and quality standards related to plastics and injection molding.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.


Desired Skills

  • Experience with lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies, as applied to plastics and injection molding.
  • Knowledge of ERP and MES systems, particularly as they relate to plastics and injection molding operations.
  • Experience with new product development and commercialization, focusing on plastics and injection molding components.
  • Strong financial acumen, with a deep understanding of the cost structure and profitability of plastics and injection molding processes.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including suppliers of plastics materials and equipment.
