General Description
The Vice President, Operations will plan, direct, coordinate, and oversee day-to-day operational activities in the organization, a region, or a business function, ensuring development and implementation of efficient operations and cost-effective systems to meet current and future needs. This position will use internal and external talent, expertise, and resources to support turnkey project execution strategies, overseeing projects of any size, scope, and budget, from beginning to end. The Vice President will also focus on strategic planning, goal setting and direct the operations of the organization in support of its goals.
Duties
- Responsible for strategic planning and execution to enhance profitability, productivity, and efficiency throughout the organization’s operations, specifically as it relates to their assigned region or business function(s)
- Implements improved processes, management methods, and systems that will generate higher ROI and productivity, workflow optimization, and revenue
- P&L responsibility over assigned region or business function(s); influences and makes business decisions on how company resources are allocated and finds ways to generate a positive ROI
- Responsible for the execution of agreed-upon contracts in the region or business function
- Proactively build and maintain stakeholder and customer relationships vital to the success of the client and the organization
- Interacts regularly with the Executive Management team and individual department heads to ensure that organization’s operational priorities are aligned with total company direction
- Investigates and introduces process improvement measures and presents suggestions for consideration
- Reviews and approves cost-control reports, cost estimates, and staffing requirements for projects
- Presents periodic performance reports and metrics to the President and other Executive leadership
- Identifies training needs and ensures proper training is developed and provided
- Formulates policies and strategic plans for future growth and manages daily operations of purchasing and administration of other departments
- Works with Executive leaders to develop plans to meet future needs of the organization
- Maintains profit margins, according to established objectives, and develops or maintains internal control systems to ensure accountability
- Participates in vendor negotiations to ensure product relevance and cost-efficiency
- Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains staff; also responsible for handling discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company practice
- Adheres to internal standards, policies, and procedures
- Performs special projects and completes other job-related duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Construction Science/Management, Engineering, or equivalent field; equivalent work experience, or combination of work and education, may be substituted
- 10+ years’ experience overseeing DB/EPC/CMAR projects in the power delivery industry preferred; ability to demonstrate thorough knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in transmission, distribution, and substation work; must have proven strategic planning and budgeting experience (experience managing P/L), demonstrated experience setting, monitoring, and meeting quarterly and annual goals, and experience building and scaling teams and systems
- Proven track record as a team leader with an understanding of management practices
- Demonstrated project and budget management skills
- Strong business acumen with a broad understanding of fundamental business principles
- Analytical problem-solving skills with an impeccable attention to detail
- Ability to set overall strategy and drive process improvement
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to collaborate and build a consensus in a high-pressure environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel)
