Job Description

The Vice President for the Strategic Partnerships team will be based in New York and will be responsible for supporting all aspects of Investor Relations. These responsibilities include but are not limited to managing client update meetings and calls, delivering customized client reporting, developing client proposal materials and coordinating with various teams across Ares to support the delivery of the Partnership program. This role supports key firmwide investor strategic initiatives and offers high visibility to some of the largest global institutional investors as well as executive level senior management.

The Strategic Partnerships team focuses on strengthening Ares’ relationships with select Limited Partners (“LPs"), which includes creating investment solutions, portfolio management and ongoing servicing to support investors. Strategic Partnerships collaborates closely with business stakeholders across the platform including Ares’ five business lines as well as operational teams (e.g., Legal, Compliance, Tax, Quantitative Research Group, etc.)

Primary Functions & Responsibilities

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with clients
  • Support ongoing Investor Relations responsibilities and the full life cycle of partnership formation process, including proposals, negotiation and documentation of partnership agreements
  • Assess and identify growth opportunities within current partnerships
  • Create client presentations and reports for both recurring and ad hoc requests
  • Collaborate with groups across the firm including Relationship Management, Product Management and Investor Relations, Investment Teams, Performance, Legal & Compliance, Quantitative Research Group and Finance & Accounting
  • Proactively manage and track the Strategic Partnerships pipeline for capital formation
  • Organize, plan and prepare materials for meetings and calls
  • Create and maintain documentation for team processes and procedures.
  • Learn and utilize new technology and processes to help increase team efficiency
  • Utilize Salesforce and other technology tools to track investor interactions and manage the business development pipeline
  • Manage Intralinks portal for delivery of client documents

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree with major in Economics, Finance, Marketing, General Business or Management

preferred, with outstanding academic record

Experience Required

  • 10 - 12 years’ professional experience in alternative investments, with direct institutional LP engagement.
  • Prior experience in Investor Relations, Relationship Management or client service in asset management or private markets preferred.

  • Expert Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Prior experience, or the desire to learn, Salesforce and Microsoft Power BI
  • Understanding of financial modeling a plus

Compensation

The anticipated base salary range for this position is listed below. Total compensation may also include a discretionary performance-based bonus. Note, the range takes into account a broad spectrum of qualifications, including, but not limited to, years of relevant work experience, education, and other relevant qualifications specific to the role.

$175,000-$225,000
