THE ROLE: We are seeking an experienced VP of Divisional Finance to support our Southern California division located in Culver City, CA. The Vice President of Divisional Finance will be responsible for financial analysis and reporting as well as budgeting, profit planning, and business forecasting, financial control systems, back-office operational efficiency.


Day In the Life

  • Leading the development and management of the Division’s quarterly and annual homebuilding budget forecasts, ensuring a high level of transparency and accuracy.
  • Reviews and analyzes monthly financial statements, sales, production, and costing metrics to conduct analysis of profitability and potential areas of improvement.
  • Focuses on division investments and daily operations to maximize results regarding ROI, margin, and overhead expenses.
  • Responsible for internal controls and other accounting/operational procedures within the Division.
  • Works closely with the Division President, Acquisition, Sales, Construction, Design and Purchasing departments to review and analyze financial results, including reasons for variance from the annual plan.
  • Provides analytical insights to executive leadership at corporate HQ to improve operations and identify cost savings and revenue enhancement opportunities.
  • Partners with Acquisitions and Sales in setting pricing, including base prices and customization pricing.
  • Works with the Purchasing team to reduce direct costs, track commodity pricing, and other areas of cost control and savings.
  • Provides support and direction to the Corporate Accounting group in preparing division financial statements and disclosure.
  • Supports Corporate Accounting with Sarbanes Oxley compliance.
  • Partners closely with Corporate Finance and Accounting on the development of new business tools, streamlining operational processes and financial reporting.


What You’ll Need

  • BS, Accounting/Finance, MBA preferred.
  • CPA preferred
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant homebuilding experience in a similar role.
  • Track record of success working for a homebuilder or relevant construction company in a similar accounting and finance role


What Will Set You a Part

  • Deep knowledge of homebuilding and a understanding of the financial levers to drive the business.
  • Demonstration of advanced analytical abilities to conduct analysis, financial modeling, and can synthesize all information.
  • Has an accounting foundation, sufficient to support three statement modeling, financial forecasting, and scenario analysis.
  • Can use data visualization to develop the story in a digestible and understandable method.


The compensation range for this role is influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to skills, experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
