The Lab Lead Person manages the employees and resources necessary to meet or exceed the companys goals for the Coatings Department.
Duties/Responsibilities
Essential Responsibilities
Facilitates smooth and efficient operation of the assigned department.
Plans and coordinates all activities related to the Water Treatment tasks distribution and recordkeeping in conjunction with the department leadership team. This includes the monitoring of the chemistry of the water, maintenance of chemical tanks, monitoring of chemical levels, operate torque and tension machine, and perform organizational audits, among other tasks.
Covers lunches, absences, and any personnel need when there is no other person available to ensure the continuity of the operations.
Visually inspects all production areas for safety and maintenance concerns.
Ensures that water chemistry and chemical inventories are kept at the correct level, including the ones in the Zinc Nickel line and reports any issues to the Maintenance Department, Lab Supervisor, and/or appropriate technical team.
Works with the Department Supervisor to track the labor hours and available workload for the employees, ensuring the labor meets the budget assignments.
Prepares daily reports and logs, documenting shift operations and any problems or complaints.
Leads the development and implementation of ideas to improve the results of their department
Troubleshoots failed chemical tests, and ensure the organization meets the appropriate requirements.
Works with the Quality Department to identify and implement improvements to our current processes and trainings.
Participates in company quality initiatives such as 5S, ISO registration, among others.
Maintains EPA and OSHA regulations and other safety guidelines.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Interviews candidates to fill open positions within their department.
Trains new employees in the companys policies, procedures, and best practices.
Lead, mentor, and coach team members
Organizes and oversees the schedules and work of assigned staff.
Reviews timecards for accuracy and monitors attendance
Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.
The employer may require an employee to perform other duties as assigned on a temporary and infrequent basis.

Education And Experiences
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six months to one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience using computers.
Experience working in a manufacturing company.
Class K Industrial Waste Water Certification (within 4 months of hired for the role)
Forklift license
Experience and proficiency in the use of electroplating equipment.
