Position Review

A website developer/webmaster is needed to support the National Guard Bureau Office of Public Affairs in Arlington, Virginia. The ideal candidate will possess subject matter expertise in a variety of software capabilities and social media platforms. The candidate will also require experience in dealing with a government client in a fast-paced, constantly evolving public affairs and social media environment.

Primary/Major Duties And Responsibilities

  • Provide web development support for the National Guard Bureau’s Public Affairs office.
  • Serve as a webmaster for www.nationalguard.mil.
  • Support planning and creation of various micro sites (ex: COVID-19 Response, National Guard Birthday, heritage month spotlights).
  • Work with various staffs within the organization to maintain their office webpages, as well as various internal web applications.
  • Provide technical assistance and some graphic design support for the website and social media platforms. (Example: Develop social media friendly holiday graphics, National Guard birthday logo, etc.).

Other Duties May Include

  • Provide support for SharePoint/MS Teams sites including but not limited to managing account approval, updating files/reports, providing technical expertise.
  • Help develop and send relevant web and social media analytics reports.
  • Maintain/ensure www.nationalguard.mil’s compliance with Section 508 and relevant DOD web policies.
  • Maintain and quickly respond to inquiries in website inbox.

Required Qualifications And Experience

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years of experience, or 10+ years of relevant experience.

Required Skills/Programs/Languages: Adobe Creative Suite including Adobe Dreamweaver , Adobe Photoshop , Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office Suite, PHP, SQL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SharePoint site development, PhpStorm, Microsoft Visual Studio Code, Microsoft Teams, Section 508 Compliance

Desired Experience/Skills: Sitegauge , AFPIMS and Army CORE Content Management Systems , knowledge of relevant DOD web and external online presence policies a bonus. Microsoft Teams , knowledge of AP Style/ any web editing experience, previous social media experience.
