POSITION SUMMARY: Do you love creative writing and have a passion to educate the next generation? At BJU Press, our Writer Specialists use creative writing skills to write video scripts that include monologues, dialogues, narration, documentary-style shows, game shows, commercials, etc. Completed videos are used to educate students in Christian schools and homeschools.
Principal Duties And Responsibilities
Researches educational topics
Proofreads, fact checks, and edits scripts from the department
Writes engaging, educational scripts for actors, puppets, and voice over narrators that enhance BJU Press curriculum for early childhood, elementary, middle, and secondary students
Meets script deadlines
Provides script/content-related feedback to Production Team members throughout production
Utilizes additional skillsets as helpful to video production
Assists Pre-Production Supervisor with special tasks or projects as needed
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Strong writing and editing skills
Strong research skills
Ability to think and write creatively while still being factual and on level with the given audience (K4-12th grade)
Excellent communication and conflict management skills, both written and verbal
Self-motivated in developing creative ideas and meeting deadlines
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Team Player
Bachelor's or master's degree in fields related to creative writing
Background in education beneficial, but not required
