GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Clinician will provide individual and family therapy to all AMIR residents using Dialectical Behavior Therapy. Their primary responsibility is to maintain or re-establish family connections and address family conflict as appropriate; assess client and family needs, develop treatment plans, make appropriate connections to aftercare services in conjunction with the Case Manager, monitor progress, communicate closely with all members of treatment team, and deliver appropriate interventions as indicated by treatment plan.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master’s Degree and appropriate Licensure (LCSW/LMFT/LPC)
  • Experience working with at-risk or court-involved adolescents
  • Must have valid driver’s license and no traffic violations on record
  • On-call availability

SCHEDULE & SALARY:

  • Salary is $65,000-$70,000depending on licensure
  • Scheduled Monday-Friday 9am-5pm
  • On call availability required

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Work with the adolescent, the family, and the Probation Officer, and other pertinent collateral sources to identify and prioritize needs and develop an individualized treatment plan as well as provide solution-focused interventions
  • Administer the Short-Term Assessment for Risk and Treatability: Adolescent Version (START: AV) to identify youth risk areas and protective factors that will guide treatment planning and goal setting
  • Administer additional screenings and assessments for treatment planning purposes: Personal Experience Screening Questionnaire (PESQ), Massachusetts Youth Screening Instrument (MAYSI), Structured Trauma-Related Experiences and Symptoms Screener (STRESS)
  • Become trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and pursue DBT Clinician certification with guidance and consultation provided by the assigned DBT consultant
  • Implement additional services and/or identify additional needs of the adolescent
  • Conduct individual, group, and family sessions
  • Available to process Behavior Chain Analysis (BCAs), support the Egregious Behavior Protocol (EBP) and offer mental health consultation to program staff
  • Provide transportation as needed and appropriate (e.g., home family sessions, court hearings)

Program Summary:

The purpose of the AMIR program is to reduce future criminal activity among court-involved adolescent males by providing gender-responsive, culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and strengths-based mental health treatment and therapeutic services in a home-like environment. In addition to delivering in-house services, the program staff will work to enhance protective factors by ensuring engagement and connection to family throughout the adolescents stay and identifying and connecting the adolescent to community networks that support and promote positive, ongoing behavior change upon discharge. Length of program involvement can range from four (4) to six (6) months.
