- Climate finance refers to funding for climate change mitigation and adaptation projects, programs, policies, and activities. Funding for climate finance can come from various sources, including governments, institutional investors, banks, venture capital firms, and private equity funds. The developing countries particularly require scaled up climate finance to facilitate their transition to low carbon and climate-resilient pathways. Climate finance supports adoption of clean energy and sustainable technologies, capacity building for climate action, sustainable development and green buildings, climate-resilient infrastructure, disaster risk reduction and early warning systems, upgraded water resource management, enhanced agricultural practices, and many more projects to reduce emissions and be prepared.
