Measure your digital carbon footprint reduction results
- In order to know the impact of everything we do and whether we are achieving our goals, it is key to measure. So I will share with you now some ideas for you to start planning how you're going to measure your current activities and consumption, and also, about how often you can measure your improvements to compare the results. Before you start creating your plan to reduce your digital carbon footprint, I suggest that you record the amount of data and digital consumption you are currently using. You can use the exercise file that I shared with you in this course. This will be the first data that will allow you to measure the outcome and impact of your goals and activities to achieve what you have set out to do. Then, it will be time to assess how often and how you will measure the outcomes of your plan. For example, you can write down in your measurement file how much time were you spending online per day before you started your plan? How much time do you spend online per day one month after you started implemented it? Three months after, one year after? And the same for each of the proposed objectives. How big were your files stored in the cloud and in your email and in instant messaging applications, what is their weight one month later and one year later, how much digital waste have you managed to eliminate? How much has your digital carbon footprint been reduced? By answering these questions, you can find out how you have been able to reduce your digital impact on the planet, and how each of the actions you have implemented have helped. I am already very curious to see all your improvement.
