- Can being too successful ever be a bad thing? If it causes you to stop doing the thing that made you successful in the first place, then the answer is yes. Implementing a recruiting diversity program is great, but it's easy to stop a successful program prematurely because it's working well. In fact, successful diversity recruiting can work as a negative feedback loop. You have a need, that need is to increase the number of qualified hires of diverse candidates. You fulfill that need by attending a diversity job fair and gathering lots of resumes. But when that need is no longer apparent because your pipeline now seems full, the motivation to keep going dwindles. The justification for attending future conferences is harder to make.
