Introduction to AI and ML
- [Narrator] This quote is from the CTO of Accenture. "In our business, we talk about emerging technologies and how they impact society. We have never seen a technology move as fast as AI has to impact society and technology. This is by far the fastest moving technology that we've ever tracked in terms of its impact, and we're just getting started." Artificial intelligence, short for AI, and machine learning, short for ML, are two of the most exciting fields at the moment in the field of sustainable design. Their applications will change our world. AI is the ability of a computer to perform advanced tasks that are normally associated with human intelligence. These include perception, learning, problem solving, planning and decision making. AI can be also used to develop machines that behave intelligently by emulating human behavior and thought processes. Machine learning is a subset of AI that involves developing computer programs that can learn from data. ML algorithms are used in many applications that use data to model decisions and make predictions. These programs are designed to improve businesses' performance when exposed to new data. Without being explicitly programmed with rules for how to do so, they can infer relationships from large sets of data, detect trends in data streams and make accurate predictions about historical patterns. Combining AI and ML creates a powerful tool for solving complex problems. It allows machines to learn from experience and adapt their behavior based on what they've observed in the past. For example, AI can transform production in agriculture by better monitoring and managing environmental conditions and crop yields. Training AI models using ML around environmental conditions can help reduce fertilizers, save water, and increase crop yields.
