- [Lisa] Today, a large percentage of data is stored electronically. As a result, individuals and businesses need assurance that their data can be moved and stored securely. In this course, you'll gain a basic understanding of the various cryptographic and hashing techniques that are used to secure data as I introduce the concepts and principles of cryptography. I'll review some of the historical aspects of encryption and the use of encryption, such as providing confidentiality, integrity, authentication, and accountability. I'll present an overview of the main classes of encryption, such as symmetric and asymmetric encryption, along with commonly used algorithms.
