- [Narrator] Now that we've discussed how to notate both music and lyrics for vocal music, let's take a look at some example scores of both solo vocal and choral music. The simplest thing that you might sing from would be a Lead Sheet. And the basic elements here are just a single stave, almost always in treble clef, the harmonic progression above the staff, and then the lyrics. And in this case, I want to point out that we've got multiple verses, or choruses, here with a lyric. When you do this, you want to make sure that the lyric lines are separated by enough that they're easy to determine. It's really easy that this stuff can get crowded up against this. Now one of the things I want to point out in notating something like this is that the note heads, the chords, and the lyrics occupy a lot of space. And as you try and put this stuff together, it can get a very crowded look. And the notation programs tend to notate things a little bit on the big side. So one of the things that you…
